Photos taken of the harbor as well as of shops and building along West Main Street. Sackets Harbor is a picturesque, little town located on the shores of Lake Ontario and the Black River Bay. At the time of the War of 1812, it was the U.S. Navy's most important shipbuilding center, the headquarters of the Navy on the Great Lakes, and it played a strategic role in winning that war. Nowadays the village of Sackets Harbor is home to some fine restaurants, quaint shops, numerous concerts, festivals, and other events year round, besides being a great place for water sports.
